A Program To Help Patients With Therapy
About
Lymphedema occurs most commonly after surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer and afflicts approximately one percent of the U.S. population (2.5 million Americans), its seriousness is seldom understood in the medical community. Our certified Lymphedema specialists use a program known as Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), sometimes referred to as Complex Decongestive Therapy and is the recognized standard of care for most patients affected by Lymphedema.
Introducing our newest program, reWORK; a structured individualized treatment program utilizing the Baltimore Therapeutic Simulator II, computerized equipment, individuals can track their progress, allowing our patients to safely transition back into the workforce and prevent re-injury.
Wellness 101 is one of the services offered in the ECHRS family that supports our mission.

Therapy
Our physical therapists focus on independent ambulation, increased strength, endurance, and joint range of motion. Whether our clients require a walker, wheelchair, prosthesis, or no assistive device, we work closely to facilitate safe and confident mobility in home and community environments.
Our occupational therapists incorporate a holistic approach to treatment, addressing our clients' physical, cognitive, psychological, and/or environmental limitations. Occupational therapy uses activities which are meaningful to the client while treating underlying problems such as deficits in strength, joint range of motion, coordination, balance, and cognitive function.
Our speech therapists provide individual treatment programs regarding speech, cognitive, linguistic and swallowing disorders. Therapy focuses on improving language expression and reception, comprehension, reading skills, safe swallowing function, and oral motor skills for more accurate articulation.
Causes include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, infection, obesity, venous insufficiency, trauma, and joint replacement. Symptoms can include swelling of the limbs, heaviness , limitation of movement, repeated infections, skin thickening or hardening and discomfort. Swelling can range from mild changes your arm or leg to extreme changes that make the limb hard to use. Symptoms may not occur until months or years after cancer treatment.
Every patient’s symptoms and response to treatment varies, so the specific course of treatment needs to be specified to the individual. Treatment at Wellness 101:
