Michigan is seeing a COVID-19 surge that may surpass all previous surges we have seen throughout the pandemic. We are starting to see increases in cases and outbreaks among long term care facilities. After the latest recommendations from ACIP and CDC all nursing home residents 18 years of age and older are eligible for a booster dose if they are 6+ months out from a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or 2+ months from the JNJ vaccine. Booster doses add protection from infection and severe health outcomes from COVID-19 especially for vulnerable populations in congregate settings.
